My 2002 XP1800+ Computer Build

Since my P200MMX (remember them?) was getting a bit long in the tooth I decided to build a new machine in an ATX case (!) and take advantage of the keen Memory and Hard drive pricing in the marketplace in Q4/2001. In fact I ordered 2 x 256MB PC2100 Crucial memory at the moment it started to rise in price at the end of November 2001. By the end of March 2002 it had doubled in price.

It was, however, the end of April 2002 before I actually settled the component choices and actively sought the cheapest reliable sources. This delay allowed me to see that the CPU was coming down in price, too. By the middle of May, all the main components I needed were now at hand and I could start doing some work on them.
